Why do I get the message "Cannot detect" or "Unable to Verify" the presence of a network connection?

Question

How do I resolve the error message "Unable to verify the presence of a network connection." when opening the embedded browser in QuickPayroll?

Answer

This error occurs when an incorrect proxy setting is entered during the Internet Connection Setup process.

To resolve:

From the Online menu, select Internet Connection Setup.
Click Next until you open the "Tell us about your Proxy Server" window, and then enter the correct settings.
If there are no proxy settings, tab through the fields to make sure there are no spaces or characters that would cause an incorrect proxy setting.
