Error (-6094, 0) when opening Reckon Accounts on a Windows 7 Home Edition PC

Legacy KB ID: 3578

Question

Why does a Standard User get a (-6094,0) error when trying to open Reckon Accounts on a Windows 7 Home Edition PC with Parental Controls turned on?

Answer

Reckon Accounts uses 3 application files to operate:

·         QBW32.EXE,

·         qbdbmgr.EXE,

·         QBW32"your qb edition".EXE

The Standard User has access to one of these files but not the other files.

Detailed Instructions

Grant the Standard User access to the other Reckon Accounts application files.

  • Click on the Windows Start button, select All Programs and click on Parental Controls;
  • If asked for Administrator password and confirmation, enter the password or provide confirmation;
  • Click on the user account you want to adjust parental controls;
  • Make sure Parental Controls are turned ON for this account;
  • Click on Allow and block specific programs;
  • Click on Kid Account can only use the programs I allow;
  • Check the boxes for QBW32.EXE, qbdbmgr.EXE and QBW32"your qb edition".EXE;
  • Click OK and OK again to save settings.

The User should now be able to run Reckon Accounts.
