How to make Time in Lieu appear on the payslip in Reckon Accounts Business.

Question

My employees regularly accrue time in lieu.  How can I make this amount appear on their payslip?

Answer

Use Other1 or Other2 leave type.


The Issue

The Reckon accounts Business method of tracking Time in Lieu is a quantity item and not a payroll leave item, so is not included on the payslip.

You can treat Time in Lieu as another leave item and utilise the Other1 or Other2 leave items and tabs.  If you have already assigned those tabs to other leave then you cannot use this method for Time in Lieu. 


Detailed Instructions.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Payroll and Employees > Company Preferences

In Other Leave Names, in Other1 or Other2, enter TIL. 


Rename the Other leave item

Go to Lists > Payroll Item List > Other 1 Hourly > Right Click > Edit Payroll Item> Enter the name: TIL > Next (repeat) > Finish


If the "Other 1 Hourly" payroll item is already in use or you do not wish to use this for TIL, then please create a new item. See below how to do this:

Go to Lists > Payroll Item List > Payroll Item > New > Wage > Next > Hourly Wages > Next > TIL > Next > Enter the name: TIL > Next (repeat) > Finish


This item does not accrue Super or Leave. 


Configure Leave accrual details:

    1. Employee Centre> right click employee > Edit Employee > Change tabs: Payroll and Compensation Info > Leave Details;
    2. Select Every Pay for accrual period
    3. Enter 0.00 for “hours accrue prepay:


Customise a Payslip Template (Reckon Standard Pay Slip; full A4 size) to show TIL available:

  1. Lists > Templates > (New or Edit existing Payslip) > Additional Customisation
  2. Header tab: Tick ‘TIL Available’
  3. Change title from ‘Other 1 Available’ to ‘TIL Available’
  4. Use the Layout Designer to display this box in your desired location. 


To record TIL accrued:

  1. On the pay run include the TIL item in the Earnings box;
  2. Enter the number of hours being accrued as a negative;
  3. Complete the rest of the pay. 
     

To record TIL being taken:

  1. On the pay run include the TIL item in the Earnings box;
  2. Enter the number of hours being taken as a positive;
  3. Complete the rest of the pay.
