Blank Tax Detail reports

KB ID: 3177

The Tax Detail report has no amount showing on the report. Only the Tax Summary report shows figures. Even after modifying the report, the figures do now show any amount.

Answer:

This can affect older data files created before 2014 that use a default tax account like Sales Tax Payable. For newer files created in more recent versions of the software, this account has been replaced with GST Payable or Tax Payable.

The older or inactive tax account that has no transactions (hence no values in the report) may cause this issue for any data file created in the Australian or New Zealand versions of the older QuickBooks software (now known as Reckon Accounts) that has multiple tax accounts.

Solution:

1. Check your Chart of Accounts List to see if there are old accounts, e.g., Sales Tax Payable, that have a zero value (it may also be inactive)

2. Delete this account.

3. Run the Tax Detail Report again.
