Reckon Accounts Desktop: Cannot open an Accounts Business company file on a network – Error 0xc0000022

Question

Why can’t I open my company file anymore?  I keep getting an error code 0xc0000022.

Answer

This error has been reported by users with Sophos Security Systems. 

Sophos detects Reckon Accounts Business processes as a virus and quarantines it. 

This has been recognised as a “false positive” and they have published a fix to reduce the incidences of false positive results. 

Please refer to your user manual and/or Sophos help for exact steps to apply the patch and to retrieve any quarantined files. 

Solution

You must list Reckon Accounts Business processes as exceptions in your security software. 

Reckon Accounts Business processes that must be made exceptions - please make note of the following files and ports that must be granted access for both Incoming and Outgoing traffic. 

The port numbers are different for each year edition of Reckon Accounts Business. Here are the past 3 year versions:

  • Reckon Accounts 2023 uses Port 10186
  • Reckon Accounts 2022 uses Port 10185
  • Reckon Accounts 2021 uses Port 10184

Files that must be made exceptions are:

In C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\Reckon Accounts 20xx,  where xx is your year version:

  • FileManagement.exe  
  • QBDBMgr.exe  
  • QBDBMgrN.exe 
  • QBGDSPlugin.exe 
  • QBW32.exe 

In C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks:

  • QBCFMonitorService.exe
  • QBUpdate.exe

Different firewall software applications use different terminology when prompting you. Be sure to choose an option that does not block connections to Reckon Accounts Business components.

Also, some firewall and antivirus software can affect Reckon Accounts Business performance. If you experience performance issues you think are related to your firewall software, refer to the firewall documentation or contact your firewall supplier for assistance.
