Converting an Estimate to an Invoice in Quicken

Legacy KB ID: 4048

Question

How do I convert an Estimate to an Invoice?

Answer

Estimates and Invoices are handled in the same way by Quicken.  The only differentiation is setting the Layout type and the Estimate/Invoice number.

Method

1.    When creating an Estimate, select the Layout type as Estimate default;

2.    Include the letter ‘E’ before the number in the Invoice # field – this will make it easier to identify estimates in the Estimate/Invoice List;

3.    To convert the estimate to an invoice, change the Layout from Estimate default to Invoice default;

4.    Remove the ‘E’ from the invoice number;

5.    When the Invoice is paid, either:

a.    On the Estimate/Invoice List, place a tick in the Paid column next to the invoice number, or;

b.    Open the Invoice and tick the box Paid
