Reckon Accounts Hosted allows a User to access a company file after his permission to access the shared file been removed

Legacy KB ID: 3580

Question

Why can a User still access a company file in Reckon Accounts Hosted after I have removed his permission to access the shared folder which contains the company file?

Answer

Reckon Accounts Hosted is hosted on a domain and managed through Active Directory.  When changes are made to the environment it will take a short while for the changes to propagate through the domain to all connected computers.  This is a normal operating feature of Active Directory. How long the propagation will take depends on the complexity of the network.

If a User has a company file opened from a shared folder at the time his permission to the shared folder is being removed, he can continue working in the company file until he exits that company file.

A user will also continue to see the company file in the File > Open Previous Company option, but after the permission change has fully propagated through the domain, he will not be able to open it.

If the user logs off the Reckon Accounts Hosted session and logs back in immediately, he will login with the new permissions.

Workaround

You have 3 options:

1.    Ask the user to exit the file, logoff the Reckon Accounts Hosted session and log back in.

2.    Access Control Panel and Log Off existing sessions.

3. Call Reckon Accounts Hosted Support and have the session terminated.

How did we do?

Files saved to the new Reckon Accounts Hosted disappear.

My printing is out of alignment as printing preferences have changed to A4 from the letter.
