Newly added shares do not update in One Step Update

Legacy KB ID: 5544

Question

Why don’t my newly added shares not update with One Step Update?  Other shares update as they should.

Answer

Tick the shares on the One Step Update Summary’s Select Quotes screen.

The Issue

To update latest prices shares must be ticked in the One Step Update Summary’s Select Quotes screen.

This will happen automatically when you configure a new share fully when you add it the first time.  If you omit to enter the Share Code at the time of creating the new share, then it will not be added to the Select Quotes screen.  When you add the share code later, it is entered onto the Select Quotes list, but it is not ticked.

Solution

Confirm that all your shares have share codes assigned.

1.       Investing > Security list

2.       Right-click the Security name of the first share without a 3-letter Symbol and select Edit.

3.       In the Symbol field enter the code for this share:

  • Click on Lookup button for Reckon Accounts to suggest a code; or
  • Search the share name on your web browser search engine.

4.       Confirm that all other information is correct:

  • Type is Stock (you can use a customized Type)
  • Exchange is Australia for Australian Shares; New Zealand for NZ shares; Other for all others.
  • Asset class is Australian Stocks or New Zealand Stocks or another relevant category.
  • Click OK to save.
