Recommendations for how to upgrade older QuickBooks 2007/08 backup QBB or QBW to Reckon Accounts 2021 or higher if it fails and you experience a program crash

If you are attempting to upgrade an older QuickBooks 2007/08 backup file (QBB) or company file (QBW) using a newer Reckon Accounts 2021 or higher software, and you encounter a crash then try the recommendations below

Try this first:

1) Launch the Reckon Accounts 2022 application

2) Open the Sample Company File or create a blank new data file (this step is important) 

3) Then restore the 2007/08 QBB backup to put it through the upgrade process

4) Make note of any warnings or error messages

5) If it fails, try the second recommendation below.

Try this second:

1) Launch the QuickBooks 2007/08 application

2) Select and open your company data file QBW or restore the 2007/08 QBB backup

3) Follow the steps in the following support article.

4) Make a backup of the company data file (give it a different name so you know this is the newly updated backup file)

5) Launch the Reckon Accounts 2022 application

6) Open the Sample Company File or create a blank new data file (this step is important) 

7) Then restore the updated 2007/08 QBB backup file

8) Make note of any warnings or error messages
