Error-"Alpha characters not allowed" when entering payment

Question

After entering the payment amount and pressing a payment method key, the error message "Alpha characters not allowed" comes up on screen.

Answer

Check what is being entered for the amount. No decimal point is required and if used the error message will appear. The amount should be entered as the number of cents.
