Upgrading a Multi-User Payroll Premier installation

Question

What steps should I follow to ensure that I successfully upgrade my multi-user Payroll Premier installation. 

Answer

Users should first refresh their knowledge of setting up a multi-user network for the first time.  Many of the steps in upgrading are similar.  See KB 3950:  https://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=3950.

 

Steps for upgrading:

1.    Bring all files back from the server location to a local PC using the Set Network Data Path function;

2.    Upgrade the local PC to the new version;

3.    Register Payroll Premier

4.    Open all Company files once;

5.    Copy files to the network path using the Set Network Data Path function;

6.    Upgrade the other PCs to the latest version, selecting the use data files on a network path as the location of the data file.
