Reckon Accounts Personal Range crashes on launch after upgrading to Windows 10

Question

I have upgraded my PC to Windows 10 and when I launch Reckon Accounts Personal it crashes with the message: “Reckon Accounts  has encountered a problem and needs to close”?

Answer

Un-install and re-install Reckon Accounts Personal

 

Issue

The upgrade to Windows 10 modifies a number of windows operating system files that Reckon Accounts Personal uses.  The current installation made in the previous operating system version cannot use the updated files. 

 

Workaround

You will need your installation disk or your downloaded install file.  To obtain the install file:

1.    Go to www.reckon.com> Login > Members

2.    Enter your Reckon Customer ID and PIN

3.    Click on Download software / Request DVD

4.    Click the dropdown arrow and select your product and click Next

5.    Click on Link in the Download Link column

6.    Your IKC is in the Installation Key code (IKC) column

If your product is not in the list, your are not entitled to that edition.  Please call customer Support for further assistance.

 

Un-install and re-install Reckon Accounts Personal.

1.    In Control Panel > Programs and Features, right-click Reckon Accounts 20xx and select Uninstall

2.    Insert your disk or click on your install file to install Reckon Accounts Personal.

3.    Launch RAP, open your datafile (or the sample file) and activate.
