Reckon Accounts Personal Range crashes when entering a transaction

Legacy KB ID: 5495

Question

Why does Reckon Accounts Personal crash with the message:  “Reckon Accounts has encountered a problem and needs to close.  Error Code 7312” when I enter a transaction?

Answer

Validate and SuperValidate your datafile.

Issue

This problem will occur when an element used in the transaction is corrupt.

Workaround

Validate and then SuperValidate your datafile.

1.    File > File Operations > Validate

2.    To super Validate, same steps but hold down Ctrl key with Validate.

Open RAP and test with entering a transaction.

If the problem persists, create a new datafile out of your existing data.

1.    File > File Operations > Copy

2.    Enter a location and file name for the copy (it will be convenient to use a new name in the current directory)

3.    Set the dates from the first date in your file to today

4.    Tick both boxes to include prior Uncleared transactions and Investment transaction

5.    Elect to open the copy.

Open RAP and test with entering a transaction.

If the problem persists, clean un-install and re-install

See the full guide: Clean Uninstall and Reinstall of Accounts Personal.
