Reckon Accounts Personal Range crashes during One Step Update

Legacy KB ID: 5494

Question

Why does Reckon Accounts Personal crash with the message:  “Reckon Accounts has encountered a problem and needs to close.  Error Code 7372” when I run the One-Step Update?

Answer

Set your launch icon to Run As Admin

Issue

When you run the One-Step Update, RAP does not have sufficient permissions to run the One-Step Update.

You may have an additional issue with your Adobe Acrobat Reader, as later editions by default switch on Protected Mode which does not allow RAP access.

Workaround

Set the RAP launch icon to Run as Admin.

1.    Right-click your RAP launch icon > Properties> Compatibility, and tick the box Run this program as an administrator.

If the problem continues, then check security on your Adobe Acrobat Reader:

1.    In the search box, type: Adobe and select the Adobe Acrobat Reader program.

2.    Edit > Preferences > Security (enhanced)

(Older versions will be on the General tab)

3.    Untick the box: Enable Protect Mode on Startup and click OK.
