Download on Hosted Toolbar does not work

Question

Why can’t I download my file (backup or company file) from Reckon Accounts Hosted.  I click on the download Icon on the Hosted Toolbar and nothing seems to happen,

 


Answer

Remove any special characters in your backup and company file name.

 

The Issue

If you have special characters like:

~  !  @  #  $  %  ^  &  *  (  )  +   ‘

Or any of the Windows reserved characters like:

<  >  :  “  /  \  |  ?  *

In your company name, then the transfer of the file will fail.

 

Workaround

Rename your back and company files

  1. Close your company file;

  2. Click on Toolbar > Download;

  3. Navigate to your backup file, right click it and press F2 to activate the Windows Rename function;

  4. Move the cursor over the name and remove and add characters to create a new company file name.  When finished right-click on the white background;

  5. Go to your Q drive (and shared file folder if applicable) and repeat steps 4 and 5 on your company file. 

You should now be able to download your renamed backup to your local PC.

Test that the renamed company file opens without problems. 

You can then delete the old file.

  1. Click on Toolbar >Download;

  2. Highlight the old company file and press the Delete button;

  3. Highlight the associated .ND and .TLG files and delete them;
