Question

Why do i get this error message whenever I attempt to start POS Terminal or Administrator?

Error: oleaut32.dll is out of date

Answer

This error is related to a file (oleaut32.dll) that needs to be updated on your system for POS to operate correctly. To update this file, you will need to install the Visual Basic 6 Service Pack file vbrun60.exe available from the POS CD.

  1. Close any applications that may be currently running on your computer, these may include background applications.
  2. Insert the POS CD into your CD drive and close out of the auto run screen if it appears.
  3. Double Click on My Computer from the desktop.
  4. Locate your CD Rom drive, right click on the icon and choose Explore.
  5. This should open a new Explorer window, on the right Pane of the screen locate a folder called Support Files and double click on this.
  6. Locate a file called Vbrun60.exe and double to install.
  7. Once the installation is complete, remove the cd restart the PC and attempt to run POS again.
