Cannot create a PDF file using the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer

Question

Why can I no longer create a PDF document from Reckon Accounts using the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer? 

Answer

With this issue you may get the errors: "Printer not Active" or "Unable to verify active printer at the system level."

There are a number of reasons why this error may be happening:

1.    The Reckon Accounts PDF Printer is uninstalled;

2.    The Reckon Accounts PDF Printer is sharing a port other than LPT1 with another printer

 

 

Solutions

Check that the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer is installed

1.    Start > Printers and Devices

2.    Do you see the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer?

a.    If Yes, go to Assign the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer to the LPT1 port below

b.    If No, continue.

 

Repair the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer

1.    Make sure that you are logged in as a user with Administrator rights

2.    Windows Start > Computer > browse to C:\Program Files\Reckon Accounts\PDFDrv.

3.    Double-click on RestorePdfDriver.bat, and wait for the installation to complete. (A Command window will appear during the installation process, and will close when it is complete).

4.    Attempt to print to PDF in Reckon Accounts.

5.    If you are still unable to print to PDF, delete the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer and reinstall from C:\Program Files\Reckon Accounts\PDFDrv\Install.exe. 

 

Assign the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer to the LP1 port

1.    Close Reckon Accounts

2.    Start > Printers & Devices

3.    Right-click the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer and select Printer Properties and the Ports tab;

4.    Tick the box LPT1:.  You will see Reckon Accounts PDF Printer appear in the Printer column;

5.    Click Apply and OK.

6.    Attempt to print to PDF in Reckon Accounts.

7.    If you are still unable to print to PDF, delete the Reckon Accounts PDF Printer and reinstall from C:\Program Files\Reckon Accounts\PDFDrv\Install.exe.
