Unrecoverable error when processing or editing a pay

Legacy KB ID: 3556

Question

Why do I get an Unrecoverable Error in Accounts Business when processing or editing a pay?

Answer

If a Super or Company Contribution payroll item has the Track Expenses by Job option ticked, when creating a pay run Reckon Accounts may crash with an unrecoverable error.

To resolve this issue, please use one of the methods below:-

1)       If you do not need the Track Expenses By Job feature, go to:

    • Lists drop down menu
    • Select Payroll Item List
    • Double click on a Super or Company Contribution payroll item which has been assigned to an employee
    • Untick the Track Expenses By Job box
    • Click Next through the wizard until the end
    • Click Finish
    • Repeat as required for each assigned Super / Company Contribution payroll items to be used with employees’ pays.

2)       If you need the Track Expenses by Job option turned on each regular payroll item (see below for an example) which is assigned to your employees will need to be added to the Include payments in contribution selection list in the Super or Company Contribution payroll item.

To achieve this go to:

·         Lists drop down menu

·         Select Payroll Item List

·         Double click on a Super or Company Contribution payroll item which has been assigned to an employee

·         Click Next through the wizard until the end and the Include payments in contribution window

·         Tick each regular pay payroll item used in your employees’ pays

·         Repeat as required for each assigned Super / Company Contribution payroll items

Example: Regular Pay payroll items are Hourly Pay (type: Hourly Wage) or Salary (type: Yearly Salary). This does not include Holiday; Personal; Overtime; Other 1; Other 2 payroll items.

Important: Any new regular payroll items which are included in a pay run and needs to have the Track Expenses by Job option turned on will need to subsequently be added to the Super and Company Contribution payroll items as explained in step 2.
