Question

What should I do at the end of the year (fiscal or calendar)?

Answer

You can archive last year's data in Reckon Personal Plus or Home & Business software and start a new-year file.

To archive a Personal Plus or Home & Business file:

1) From the File menu, choose File Operations, and then choose Year-End Copy.

2) Select Archive and click OK.

3) If necessary, change the Reckon Personal-generated filename for the archive file and the location where you want the file saved.

4) To archive transactions from only part of last year, change the date shown.

5) Click OK. Reckon Personal Plus/Home & Business creates the archive file and copies the historic transactions to it. When it finishes, you'll be asked which file you would like to use; the current file or the archive file.

To start a new year file:

  • From the File menu, choose File Operations, and then choose Year-End Copy.
  • Select Start New Year and click OK.
  • Enter a filename for the copy of your current file.
  • If you want the new file to begin at a date other than January 1 of this year, change the date shown in the window.
  • Change the Move Current File to location if necessary, and click OK.

6) When the software asks if you want to use the old file or the one you just created, choose File for New Year and click OK. Then check your registers to see that the old transactions were removed.
