BAS/IAS configuration resets to blank default settings

About

The BAS configuration settings are stored in a file called BAS.INI.

This gets created when the Simplified BAS form was used, then closed. Please note that changing the location of company file within the same machine will not affect BAS settings, as these settings are in the configuration file.

This file can be found in the following location:

  1. For Dekstop: C:\Users<USERNAME>\Documents folder
  2. For Hosted: Q:\ Drive

Workaround

Settings can be lost if one of the following occurs:

  1. The settings will not be retained if the Company name is changed. Settings in BAS.INI file are determined based on Company Name in the Company Information. If the filename is changed, unfortunately, BAS settings will be lost.
    1. Option 1: Reconfigure your BAS/IAS
Please contact an Accredited/Professional Partner or your Accountant to reinstate the selections, as Reckon will be unable to provide accounting advice.
    2. Option 2: Update the BAS.INI file with the new Company Name
      1. Open your File Explorer and navigate to C:\Users<USERNAME>\Documents.
      2. Open BAS.INI in Notepad.
      3. Update the Company Name enclosed in square parentheses, i.e. from [Company Name] to [New Company Name]

  2. The settings will not be retained if the BAS.INI file for the original settings is not present in the default location, i.e. moving to a new computer. In this case, please do the following:
    1. In the previous computer, open your File Explorer.
    2. Navigate to C:\Users<USERNAME>\Documents.
    3. Select and copy BAS.INI to an external drive/network folder.
    4. In your new computer, paste the file to C:\Users<USERNAME>\Documents.
    5. Re-open the Simplified BAS/IAS window.
