Importing accountant's changes

Legacy KB ID: 564

Question

How do I import changes my accountant made to my company data file?

Answer

Once you have received the accountant's copy file back from your accountant (this file will have an .AIF extension), you will need to import, or merge, those changes into the company file from which the accountant's copy was made: If the accountant's copy file is on a disk, insert the disk into the disk drive. Note: If the file was sent to you as an e-mail attachment, you must first download it to either a floppy disk, your hard disk, or some other media. Due to the varied nature of e-mail programs, we are unable to provide instructions for downloading a file attachment. Please consult the Help files for your e-mail program. 1. Open the QuickBooks company file from which the accountant's copy was made. 2. From the QuickBooks File menu, choose Accountant's Review, and then Import Accountant's Changes. 3. You will be prompted to make a backup. This is a required step. Click OK. 4. Enter the filename and location for the backup file, and click Back Up. 5. In the Import Changes from Accountant's Copy window, select the file that was returned to you, or use the Look in drop-down list to browse to the correct location (such as the appropriate disk drive, if you inserted a disk, or the hard disk location where a downloaded file was saved). 6. After selecting the file, click Open. When the process is complete, you will receive a message that the data has been imported.
