Legacy KB ID: 3945

Question

Why do I always get the following message when I send an email from Reckon Accounts:  Microsoft Outlook Warning: A program is trying to send an e-mail on your behalf.

Answer

This warning message is issued by Microsoft Outlook 2010 (64bit) and will be experienced when the email preview preference is unchecked.

Workaround 1

Click YES to allow the email to proceed.  You will need to click YES separately to every email.

Workaround 2:

Install an anti-virus program

Under certain conditions, installing an anti-virus programme and keeping it updated regularly might prevent this security warning from appearing again. The anti-virus programme must meet the following conditions:

  1. be compatible with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). Check with your antivirus software vendor.
  2. be updated regularly. Most anti-virus programs enable you to get automatic updates when you are online. Check with your antivirus software vendor.
  3. is configured to share its update status with other applications. Typically, anti-virus programmes share their update status with other applications by default. To check the update status setting, look in the preferences or options for your anti-virus programme, or check with your anti-virus software vendor.

1.    In Microsoft Outlook, click on Tools, Trust Centre then Programmatic Access

2.    Click on Never warn me about suspicious activity

  1. Click on OK to save and close.

You will not get the warnings when sending emails from Reckon Accounts.
