Setting up an Item Prompt on a POS Terminal

Question

I would like to send a message sales staff when they sell a particular item.  How can I arrange that in Retail POS?

 

Answer

Retail POS has an “Item Prompt” feature that will display a message on-screen whenever the item is selected for purchase.

Item Prompt is Custom Field in QuickBooks setup for Items by Retail POS when a database file is created.

 

Detailed Instructions

1.    Setup the Item Prompt in the Item in QuickBooks

a.    In QuickBooks, go to the Item List > double click on the Item > Custom Fields button;

b.    Enter your message in the Item Prompt field;

c.    Click OK to complete

2.    Transfer the information from QuickBooks to Retail POS

a.    POS Administrator > Transfer icon > tick Transfer the Product (Items & Services) list and continue;

3.    Configure Item Prompt in POS Terminal

a.    Tools > Options > Keyboard tab > Design Touch Keyboard Layout button > double click on Product Number tile;

b.    Ensure Item Prompt Off box is unticked

Your message will now appear on-screen whenever the item is selected.
