Cannot log onto GovConnect - The keystore you selected is invalid

Question

Why doesn’t GovConnect recognise my AUSkey?  It tells me the keystore file selected is incorrect. 

Answer

This error will be generated if your keystore.xml file has become corrupted.

 

The following information has been provided by the AUSkey Technical Support Team of the Australian Taxation Office.  Reckon Ltd cannot provide any further information concerning this issue.  If you need further assistance you will need to contact the ATO.

 

Corrupt Keystore Fixer [Temporary fix for clients]

NB:  This will not work if the client is using AUSkey on USB see below for the USD fix.

1.    Java - Install or update the latest Java from java.com (java is required to run this fix);

2.    Restart the computer (this is essential to ensure no AUSkey java processes are running);

3.    Go to the keystore fixer at the following page and follow the prompts:

4.    Login with the AUSkey to confirm the fix.

 

Procedure for a corrupt keystore on a USB stick

1.    Install the AUSkey software and Java on a computer;

2.    Copy the keystore from the USB stick to the computer

a.    Keystore Location on a USB stick is USB Drive\AUSkey OR AUSkey Browser\AUSkey;

b.    Keystore Locations on computers:

                                          i.    Windows XP/2003 Server C:\Documents and Settings\\<YOUR USERNAME>\Application Data\AUSkey;

                                         ii.    Windows Vista C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\AppData\ Roaming\AUSkey;

                                        iii.    Windows 7 C:\Users\\<YOUR USERNAME>\AppData\ Roaming\AUSkey;

                                       iv.    MAC OSX Finder/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/AUSkey

3.    Follow Steps 1-4 of the Corrupt Keystore Fixer section above;

4.    Copy the fixed keystore back to the USB stick;

5.    Care:  The keystore locations may be hidden on a Windows computer.

How to show hidden files and folders for Windows XP, Vista and 7:

                                          i.    Go to My Computer

                                         ii.    Press [Alt] and T (to open the Tools menu)

                                        iii.    Select Folder Options

                                       iv.    Select the View tab

                                        v.    Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files and folders

                                       vi.    Un-tick Hide extensions for known file types

                                      vii.    Select OK
