How To Copy or Move a Transaction Between Accounts in Reckon Personal

Legacy KB ID: 4316

Question

How do I copy transactions between accounts in Reckon Personal (Quicken)?

Answer

To copy a transaction from one account to another:

1.    Tools > Account List

2.    Double click on the account of the transaction (this will open its register) and click on the transaction to select it

3.    Click on the Edit button in the transaction and choose Copy Transaction

4.    Double Click on the destination account to open its register

5.    Click on an empty transaction line > Edit button > Paste Transaction

6.    If necessary, delete the transaction from the original account

7.    Repeat this procedure for each transaction that needs to be copied; or:

use Ctrl + click or Shift + click to select multiple transactions.

Care:  does not work in an investment transaction list.

If you are moving a cash transaction from one cash flow account to another cash flow account, then you can just move the transaction:

1.    Right-click the transaction and choose Move Transaction.

2.    Select the account you want to move the transaction to in the drop-down list.

3.    Click OK.

Please Note:

You can only move or copy a transaction between accounts that support the type of transaction you are working with.  For instance, you can't copy an investment short sale into a banking register.

You can only copy security related investment transactions to another account that supports this type of transaction (for example, another investment account).

You can only copy cash related investment transactions to another investment account.

You can copy cash flow transactions to any other cash flow account.
