Question

How do I manage my imputation credits in Quicken?

Answer

An imputation credit is the tax paid to the ATO on your franked dividend by the company providing the dividend.

To record an Income Event with an imputation credit in Quicken Personal Plus/CashBooks 2004;

  1. In the Account List double click your investment account.

  1. Select Easy Actions > Record An Income Event.

  1. Enter the Franked Dividend amount, the Imputation Credit amount as well as the Security and any other details needed.

  1. Click 'Ok' to record the transaction.

The transaction has now been recorded, unlike in Personal Plus 2022 or CashBook v8, the Imputation Credit amount has been recorded to a separate Asset account in the Account List called Imputation Credit.

To track the total amount in Imputation Credits;

  1. Select Taxes menu > Tax Planner.

  1. In the Tax Planner Summary screen click 'Tax Payable Adjustments'.

  1. The Tax Payable Adjustments screen will display the total Imputation Credit amount and the total Refund Due.
