Choosing property management as COA when starting new company file

Why do i get the error; "Error on line 1228 imported account has a duplicate account number' followed by 'unable to create the "property management" chart of accounts"

Answer

When starting a new data file when selecting 'Trust Income Tax Return' as the company tax and using the Present chart of accounts for Property Management, the moment Reckon Accounts tries to create the chart of accounts the following error appears.

'Error on line 1228 imported account has a duplicate account number' followed by 'unable to create the "property management" chart of accounts.'

To avoid this error from appearing.

1) In the Easy Step interview click 'Next' twice. You will then be in a screen of the easy step interview titled 'Setting Up a New Reckon Accounts Company'.

2) Click 'Skip Interview'

3) Enter in the company details, click 'Next' and select a present chart of accounts.

4) Save the data file.

5) Go to the 'File' menu and select 'Easy Step Interview'. All the steps of the Easy Step Interview can now be followed without running into this error.
