One Step Update continually fails to update share prices in one datafile

Legacy KB ID: 5502

Question

Why do some of my datafiles fail to update share prices but currencies update, and other datafiles update their share prices without difficulty?  I have checked the setup of my shares and they are correct.

Answer

You may experience this behaviour in datafiles with Funds.  Not all Fund prices have a Share Code and are not in the update list.  However, if a share code is entered that does not match the format of standard shares, then the One Step Update will fail.

Workaround

Review the Codes on your Securities:

1.    Investing > Security List

2.    Look down the list for Funds (Asset Class: Unclassified)

3.    Check the symbol against the ASX listing of Funds:

a.    https://www.asx.com.au/products/etf/managed-funds-etp-product-list.htm

b.    If your fund is not listed here, the Symbol should be blank

4.    Right-click your Fund and select Edit

a.    Symbol:  enter the correct symbol or leave blank

b.    Type should be Fund or Trust

c.    Asset Class should be Unclassified

5.    Confirm that all Codes have been properly applied:

a.    One Step Update > Select quotes

b.    Browse down the list of Securities and check that funds have the correct code or are blank.  Make corrections to any funds still incorrect.

c.    To exclude a Fund from this download click on the green tick to the left to remove it.
