Question

I have bought shares over a number transactions over a period of time.  When I sell shares how do I specify from which purchase they should be sold?

Unless otherwise instructed, Reckon Personal(formerly Quicken) will sell shares on an average basis – that is the average price of the shares bought.

You can select specific lots by clicking on the Specify Lots button on the Sell–Shares Sold entry form.

2.    Enter the details for the transaction;

3.    Click on the Specify Lots button to see a list of your Buy transactions;

4.    There are a few short-cut methods to sell the shares.  Click on the appropriate box:

b.    Last shares In;

c.    Minimum Gain;

5.    For other variations of selling your holdings, enter the number of shares to be sold from each lot in the Shares to Sell column of the list;

6.    Click OK to complete the selection and then Enter/Done or Enter/New to complete the transaction.
