Unable to create the folder ‘foldername\’ when creating an ABA file on Reckon Accounts Hosted

Question

Why can’t I open the Online Banking Centre on Reckon Accounts Hosted?  I keep getting the error

Unable to create the folder ‘foldername\’

The system cannot find the path specified.

 

Answer

You will experience this error if your company file name contains the illegal character ‘\’.  This character conflicts with Windows Server protocols and prevents  Reckon Accounts Hosted from creating the folder to store the ABA file.

 

Workaround

Remove the ‘\’ from your company file name in Company > Company Information and from the computer file name. 

To change your computer file name:

1.    Create a backup of your company file

2.    Restore the backup to a new name into the same shared folder;

3.    Notify all users of the new filename.
