This account has downloaded transactions that have not been added to the register message

Legacy KB ID: 5230

Question

Why does Accounts Business think I have downloaded transactions to import when I click on the Online Bank Details tab?  I keep getting the error:

This account has downloaded transactions that have not been added to the register.  You cannot disable online banking for this account until all transactions have been added to the register.  To do this, go to the Online Banking centre, select your financial institution from the drop-down list, and a click the view button.

This account has never been ticked for Online access and there are no transactions to add to the register.

Answer

Create a new bank account and merge with the old one.

The Issue

Your bank ledger account has become corrupt.

Solution

Before continuing, create a new backup of your company file.

Solution 1:  Create a new bank account and merge it with the old one.

1.    Rename the corrupt bank account

a.    Lists > Chart of Accounts

b.    Right click the bank account > edit account

c.    Enter a new name like Test

2.    Create a new bank ledger account with the name of the old account

3.    Rename the corrupt bank ledger account to the original name

When asked “Do you want to merge?”, select Yes.

You should be able to go to your bank account’s Online Bank Details tab without any errors.

If the problem persists, then continue:

Solution 2: Import bank account details from a new file

1.    Create a new file with None selected for accounts

2.    Create your bank account exactly as it appears in your company file

(do you need to create it as a sub-account?)

3.    Export Chart of Accounts

a.    File > Utilities > Export > to IIF

b.    Select Chart of Accounts

c.    Save the file to your Desktop

4.    Import this file into your company file

a.    File > Utilities > Import > from IIF

b.    Select your file for import

c.    You should receive a message that your accounts were imported.

The existing corrupt details of your bank account will be overwritten by the import.

You should be able to go to your bank account’s Online Bank Details tab without any errors.
