Question

Why do I receive a Warning message - An error occurred when QuickBooks tried to access the company file. Contact Quicken Technical Support and provide them with the following error codes: (-1,0)?

Answer

"Warning - An error occurred when QuickBooks tried to access the company file. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact Quicken Technical Support and provide them with the following error codes: (-1,0)."

If you are experiencing the warning message above;

  • Restart the Computer
  • Make sure QuickBooks is not running before continuing.
  • Download the file from the link below:
    https://library.reckon.com.au/library/exe/QuickBooks2008-09%20-1_0_Fix.exe
  • Click Run
  • A security warning window may appear asking if you want to run the software. Click Run
  • Click the Browse button and navigate to the QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 (R8) installation directory.
    The Default location is C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2008/09

To find the installation path, follow the steps below:

Windows XP:

  • Riht click the QuickBooks icon on your desktop and select Properties
  • Click Find Target...
  • The installation path will be displayed in the address bar at the top of the screen

Windows Vista:

  • Right click the QuickBooks icon on your desktop and select Open file location
  • The installation path will be displayed in the address bar at the top of the screen
  • When you have selected you installation path, click Install

Once the files have completely extracted, open QuickBooks and re-upgrade you data file.
