Payroll Premier: Registration information appears corrupt error

Legacy KB ID: 5574

Question

I'm unable to open Payroll Premier after upgrading to latest version release. When trying to run it for the first time after install, I get “Registration information appears corrupt. Please Re-install Quicken Payroll” error. I have already done a reinstall but that didn’t help. What can I do?

Answer

This error is usually experienced if there were some issues during the installation of the software. Or if Payroll Premier does not have enough Permission on PC.Most commonly if there were some Payroll installation files in use, during the installation process, which failed to install/update.

Users would have generally got the warning message during install that ‘there are some files in use’.

Fix 1:

Run Payroll Premier as an administrator.

Fix 2:

Uninstall the software and reinstall after restarting the windows and not opening Payroll Premier after the restart.

  1. Close the Payroll Premier.
If you are in Multiuser environment close Payroll Premier on all computers.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Now go to the installation folder (typically, this is C:\QPRollVxx) and install the software.
If you only just downloaded the installer, you will typically find it in your Downloads folder.
  4. If the installation completes successfully without any interruption or warning message, you should be able to Open Payroll Premier successfully after installation.
Do not open any older version of Payroll Premier after restarting your computer.

Fix 3:

If the issue persists and you continue to get the warning message that ‘there are some files in use’ during installation, it is possible some hidden processes are running in the background.

Please run Windows in selective start up mode and try installing the software again. For a guide on this, please follow our instructions here: https://help.reckon.com/article/5rah897dt0
