How to setup Reckon Insights from sign up, account creation, adding feed, and viewing contents

PREREQUISITE
An activated portal account is required.

The following is the end-to-end process in setting up a Reckon Insights Data Feed.

Detailed steps

STEP 1: Purchase Reckon Insights

  1. Select Reckon Insights on the left-pane navigator
  2. Click Start free 14 days trial


  1. In the Payment page, click on the Payment options and details
  2. When finished, click Place secure order
  3. Once the order is placed, click to Continue to Allocate Licenses.

    A Welcome email would also be sent to the Portal account user.


STEP 2: Allocate License

Users has to be added specifically to a Feed for a Book or Company File in order to select the data source to view the data within Reckon Insights.

To add a User, they must have an active Portal Account as a prerequisite.
  1. Back in Portal, select the Reckon Insights tile
  2. Click on License (or License Management)


  1. Click on Allocate Licence, depending on the license type to be designated for the user: Creator or Viewer.


  1. Enter the email address of the activated Portal user
  2. Then, click on Add.

    An Invitation email would be sent.


STEP 3: Activate your Reckon Insights

Note that this Reckon Insights account setup may use a different password from your Portal account.
  1. After a successful license allocation, check your mailbox for the Invitation email.
  2. Click on Activate your account


  1. It will open a new tab to the Reckon Insights page to set up your Reckon Insights account.
  2. Complete the required details, then, click on Submit.


  1. Once completed, it will log in to the Reckon Insights dashboard.


STEP 4: Opening Insights from Portal

After successfully creating your Reckon Insights account, a new button will be available in the Reckon Insights tile within Reckon Portal. This new Open button will now be available to launch Reckon Insights.


A new tab on a browser will launch the Reckon Insights Log in page, where you need to enter the email and password you have created from STEP 3.


STEP 5: Add a feed

  1. In Portal, select Reckon Insights > Manage. It will open the Insights User and Feed Management page on a new tab.


  1. Click on Add first data feed.
    For existing users, click on Manage Data Feeds then Add feed


  1. Select the data source from the list below, then click on Continue:
    1. Reckon One
    2. Reckon Accounts Hosted
    3. QuickBooks Online


  1. After the authorisation and configuration — which is unique for each data source — click to Configure the feed
  2. This allows the renaming of the Data Feed Name for better identification. For Hosted, it requires a Company Username and Password dedicated to Reckon Insights.
    See Adding a Reckon Accounts Hosted Data Feed for instruction on how to set this up.


  1. Click on Add users now
  2. Set the access/permission level and select the allocated portal user
  3. Click on Done then Finish


  1. This will start the synchronisation process.
    1. ​Reckon One​ — every 2 hours
    2. ​Reckon Accounts Hosted​ — daily. The initial sync will take the longest time, but any subsequent sync will be faster thereafter.
    3. ​QuickBooks Online​ — daily


STEP 6: View contents in Reckon Insights

  1. In Portal, select Open to launch Reckon Insights. A new tab on a browser will launch the Reckon Insights Log in page.
  2. Log in using your Reckon Insights Email and Password as seen in STEP 4.
  3. From the Dashboard, select the Template to use to start your advanced reporting and analytics. Any allocated user to a feed will have access to the data within that data source.
