Reckon Accounts Hosted: Backup Log on Dashboard does not show backup files

Legacy KB ID: 5226

Question

Why can’t I see my backups in the Backup Log off the Hosted Dashboard?

Answer

The list of backup files is kept in an *.xml format file.

When other *.xml format files are present in the Q-drive and any of its sub-folders, the Backup Log is unable to access the backup log file.

Common *.xml format files that may be in your Q:\ drive are BAS export files. You may wish to either move them or save them in a separate folder on your Q:\ drive.

Workaround

Move all *.xml format files (other than backuplog.xml) to a new folder on the Q:\ drive.

  1. Click the Download Icon in the top right
  2. In the "Look In" drop-down, select My Live (Q:) (Q:\ drive).
  3. Right-Click on the name of a *.xml format file.
  4. On your keyboard, press Control and X at the same time. If this works, the icon of the file should appear transparent.
  5. Either create a new folder (click on the New Folder button, pictured below), or select an existing folder.
    1. If you create a new folder, ensure to give it a name (XML Reports, for instance).
  6. Left-Click to open the folder.
  7. Once inside a folder, on your keyboard, press Control and V. This will move the *.xml format file to this folder, off of the Q:\ drive.

You will now be able to view your backup files in the View Backup Log section on the Dashboard.
