File not restored

Legacy KB ID: 2956

Question

When restoring a backup file, why do I receive the error:
File not restored

Answer

This error may occur if the file is stored on a CD-ROM that is CD Recordable (CD-R) or CD Re-Writable (CD-RW) and is marked as Read Only.

To resolve this:

  1. Copy your Quicken data file set from your CD-ROM to a location on your hard disk drive using either My Computer or Windows® Explorer®.

Note: The Quicken data file set consists of multiple files with the same name, but with different file extensions. Most data files will contain Qdata.QDF, Qdata.QSD, Qdata.QEL, and Qdata.QPH, where Qdata is the name of your data file.

  2. After copying the files to your hard disk drive, right-click each file in the Quicken data file set, and then choose Properties.
  3. Select the Archive checkbox, and then clear all other checkbox options.
  4. Click OK.
