Reckon Desktop POS: Error on Line 3, Cannot change the Type of Account

Question

When I try to set up my Reckon Desktop POS database, I get the following error message:

Error on Line 3 Cannot change the Type of Account

Answer

This is an error with the QBStand.pos file. To fix it, you can do the following:

  1. You will need to locate the QBStand.pos File. It is typically found in C:\Reckon\Point of Sale Administrator\ .
  2. Open QBStand.pos in a spreadsheet program (such as Excel). You can do this by right-clicking the file, then selecting "Open With..."
  3. Go to Line 3.
  4. Find the account name and also the Type.
  5. Have a look at the same account in the Reckon Chart of accounts.
  6. Check if the TYPE of account is different from that in the QBstand.pos file.
  7. Change it in Reckon Accounts so it matches what it is in the QBstand.pos file.
