Mapped network drives no longer available
Legacy KB ID: 5423
Question
Why can’t Reckon Accounts Business locate Network drives? Now I can’t open my company files.
Answer
You may experience this loss of network drive on a Windows10 PC and when running Reckon Accounts as an administrator
This behaviour is an outcome of the slightly different configuration of Windows10.
You can regain access to Network drives with an adjustment to the Registry.
Instructions
To Open the Registry Editor:
Windows 10, 8: type regedit in the Search box and select the Run command result
Windows 7 & Vista: Start button > type regedit into the search box > Enter;
Windows XP: Start button > Run > type regedt32 > Enter;
If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
To backup the Registry
- On the top menu line, click on File >Export
- Select a location to save the file and in the File Name box enter a name;
- In the Export Range section, click on All;
- Click Save.
