Why do I get the below error when I am trying to install Reckon Accounts?

Error 1603 There was a problem with installing "Flash Player 8"

Answer

Adobe has decommissioned Flash Player and has blocked loading Flash content beginning January 12 2021. Click here to learn more.

Workaround

We have prepared a new installer file that you require to install Reckon Accounts without the requirement of having Flash Player installed on your computer.

Steps

If you have downloaded and extracted the Reckon Accounts installer already:

  1. Download the setup-ReckonAccounts.exe file from by clicking here and save it to a location (for example, Downloads folder)
  2. Once the file is downloaded, DO NOT run it
  3. Browse to the location you have downloaded the setup-ReckonAccounts.exe in step 1 (for example, Downloads folder)
  4. Right click on the setup-ReckonAccounts.exe file > Copy
  5. Browse to the location where you have extracted Reckon Accounts installer files (by default, the location is: C:\temp\Reckon_Accounts_Business_20##_R#
  6. Look for Reckon_Accounts folder and open it > right-click and Paste
  7. Right-click on setup.exe > Rename
  8. Change the name from setup.exe to setup-old.exe
  9. Now rename setup-ReckonAccounts.exe to just setup.exe (remove "-ReckonAccounts" from the name)
  10. Go back one folder (for example, C:\temp\Reckon_Accounts_Business_20##_R#) and run Setup.exe to install Reckon Accounts
