What's New - Microsoft Office Replacement in Reckon Accounts Hosted 2023 and above
About
As you know, Reckon Accounts requires Microsoft Office to be installed in order to use the Office Integration utilising Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to produce reports and letters respectively.
The above is still relevant for the Reckon Accounts Desktop Range.
For Reckon Accounts Hosted, the Office integration function was rewritten to continually use this function that has no effect on the user experience and has allowed further improvements and updates.
What is the effect on me?
The functionality with Reckon Accounts Hosted won’t change, and you will still be able to do the following:
- Export reports including formulas and other functionality
- Email as a spreadsheet
- Import Workbook lists
- Combine reports
- Create Mail merge/Letters
What is Reckon doing to accomplish this?
Due to the above, we have reworked the functionality within the Reckon Accounts Hosted so that the environment doesn’t require Microsoft Office to be installed and getting the replacement functionality as close to existing as possible.
This also allows us to update the format of workbooks to XLSX rather than continue using the dated XLS format.
What cannot be replaced?
One thing we won't be able to replace is the RFSD export to Excel & Word in Hosted. This feature is still available in the Desktop version.
Resolved bugs
Unable to export more than 16 times to an existing Spreadsheet
Fixed an issue where exporting to an existing Spreadsheet for more than 16 times in a session causes the following error:

To resolve the issue, the user would need to completely log off their current session and log back in.
With the new version, this issue will no longer occur.
Country is being set to US when importing Customers/Suppliers from Excel
Fixed an issue where importing a Customer or Suppliers from a workbook sets the Country automatically to US which also rejects a valid ABN (Tax Reg. ID) resulting in import failure with the following error:

Credit card expiry month defaults to 12 regardless of the value during import
Fixed an issue where importing a Customer from a workbook sets Credit Card Expiry Month to 12 regardless of the value set in the spreadsheet.

Invalid file format or extension when opening an XLSX file type
Fixed the issue where an exported report cannot be opened when saving it by appending an *.xlsx extension.
