Receipt Printer needs reconfiguring after Reckon POS PC turned off

Legacy KB ID: 5003

Question

Why do I have to reconfigure my receipt printer every time I turn of the Reckon POS PC?  All my hardware is the Senor POS System with Embedded POS ready V2 Operating System.

Answer

Attach the Receipt Printer directly to the Reckon POS Terminal PC.

The Issue

POS peripherals need to be attached directly to the POS Terminal PC to operate properly.  Any connectors between the peripheral and the POS Terminal PC, like a hub, router, repeater, may cause the peripheral to perform irregularly.

When the Senor POS System with Embedded POS ready V2 Operating System is used with a hub between the receipt printer and the POS Terminal PC, when the POS Terminal PC is turned off, the configuration settings for the receipt printer are lost.

Hubs allow a number of devices to be attached to one port on the PC.  This sharing can result in conflicts that prevent the proper operation of the peripheral devices.

Specialist keyboards and mouses should still be attached to the existing COM port/USB connections on the POS Terminal PC.

Solution

Attach all peripheral devices directly to a COM or USB port on the POS Terminal PC.
