Error (-6176,0) when opening a company file on QuickBooks Hosted.

Legacy KB ID: 3618

Question

Why do I get “Error (-6176,0): QuickBooks cannot get the network address of the server” when I try to open my company file on QuickBooks Hosted by Reckon Online?

Answer

This error is generated when QuickBooks Hosted cannot find the file requested on the server.  The most likely reason is that you are trying to open a company file that is on your local computer rather than on the QuickBooks Hosted Server.

Solution

If you have previously uploaded your company file

Open the company file from your QuickBooks Hosted workspace:

1.    Click on File then Open or Restore Company file;

2.    Click on Open a Company File (.QBW or QBA) and click Next;

3.    In the Look in box, click the down arrow and select Q:\ drive;

a.    Select your company file; or

b.    Click on the company shared folder then select your company file

Your company file should open.
