Question

Why do I get the error message when I assign a port (COM1) to the receipt printer in Retail Point Of Sale?

Answer

This is due to another device (i.e. Quickbooks PDF Converter) using the same port. In order to change it, follow the instructions below:

1. Click OK to the error message.
    Another error message will appear - "The receipt printer will be disabled until this problem is corrected".
    Click OK.
2. Close Point of Sale Terminal.
2. Click the Start menu and select Printers and Faxes.
3. Right-click on Quickbooks PDF converter and select Properties.
4. Select the Ports tab.
5. Click on LPT1: Printer Port.
6. Click OK.
