Legacy KB ID: 456
Question
Why when I try and switch to multi-user, I get the error message of the database server not responding?
Answer
This would generally happen due to some services being stopped and in order to fix this you need to Restart your PC, ensure you Log on as a Windows Admin/Domain Admin and follow the steps below:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type services.msc and press Enter
- Scroll down and locate the service named QuickBooksDBxx
- Stop the following two services by right clicking the service and selecting Stop - QuickBooksDBxx
- Check that QuickBooksDatabase Manager Service " QuickBooksDBxx " are started.
Note: The service name QuickBooksDBxx corresponds to your Reckon Accounts version:
- 34 – Reckon Accounts V34
- 33 – Reckon Accounts 2024
- 32 – Reckon Accounts 2023
- 31 – Reckon Accounts 2022
Effective 1 October 2025, if you encounter a QuickBooksDB35 service while running the latest version of Reckon Accounts, the correct QuickBooksDB34 service will be automatically created and set as active.
