Price column in Portfolio View shows either "est" or "e"

Question

Why is the price column in Portfolio View showing either "est" or "e"?

Answer

In the price column of the Portfolio View, "est" or "e" appears when the displayed price is an estimate. There is not a price in the security price history for the date selected in the Portfolio View. This can occur when:

The securities are mutual funds and the prices have been downloaded before the market closes. Fund prices are updated once per day after the market closes. The prices do not change during trading hours.

An error message is displayed while downloading online quotes, and the download is unsuccessful.

An estimated price has been manually updated in the Portfolio View, and the price figure that was entered matches the price figure that was already there.
