Error: 'Account not found' when entering a Bill.

Question
Why do I get the error “Account not found” when I create a bill? The account I am using is in my Chart of Accounts and is active.
Answer
On the top menu line, click on Edit > Preferences > Accounting > Company Preferences;
In the Accounts section, you will see the option Show lowest subaccount only is checked and greyed out.

Check the box Use account numbers; the Show lowest subaccount only box will turn black and become unchecked.

If you want to use account numbers leave the Use account numbers box checked.
If you do not want to use account numbers, uncheck the Use account numbers box.
Click OK to close the Preferences box.
You can now include a sub-account in a bill.
