Enabling the Gift Voucher function in Retail Point of Sale 2008/09

How do I use Gift Vouchers in Retail Point of Sale 2008/09?Answer
If you wish to sell Gift Vouchers to your customers to redeem for future purchases, two new buttons are needed, one to sell and one to tender/redeem the voucher. These need to be created in Point of Sale Terminal.
This is accomplished by following the steps below:-
- Open Point of Sale Terminal
- Tools > Options > Keyboard tab
- Select Design Touch Keyboard Layout button
- Under the Button section, click on New
- Move the new button to the desired location, click the Function button
- - [Retail Point of Sale Pro users]
a. Within the POS function table, select Department
b. Change the caption name to Gift Voucher
c. Click on the Product button, select the Voucher item and OK (this item is create in your QuickBooks Item List when POS is installed)
- [Retail Point of Sale Lite users]
a. Within the POS function table, select Product Number
b. Change the caption name to Gift Voucher
c. Click on the Preset Product button, select the Voucher item and OK (this item is create in your QuickBooks Item List when POS is installed)
d. Tick the Allow Amount Entry checkbox (Maximum Amount is $0.00) - Click Apply and OK
- Click New button (to create the second button)
- Move the new button to the desired location, click the Function button
- Within the POS function table, select Tender Voucher
- Ensure Voucher is selected in Voucher Item field, select if required
- Click Apply and OK
- Click Apply and OK
- Click OK on the Options page
Selling a Voucher:
- Enter the dollar amount for the voucher
- Click the Gift Voucher button
- Press the Tender function button, i.e. CASH
Tender/redeem Voucher:
If voucher covers the full transaction total
- Enter transaction as normal
- Click the Voucher button
If the voucher partially covers the transaction total
- Enter transaction as normal
- Enter voucher amount
- Press Voucher button
- Press the relevant Tender function button to complete the transaction, i.e. CASH
