SLCIR does not change when the Student Loan repayment amount is changed

Legacy KB ID: 5099

Question

I have altered the Student Loan repayment Amount, so why doesn’t the SLCIR amount change with it?

Answer

No action.  Accounts Business is calculating correctly.

The Issue.

The Student Loan repayment Amount is set by government policy and is set in the Tax Tables.

The SLCIR additional payment is linked to the Student Loan repayment Amount as calculated by the Tax Tables.  Altering the amount of the Student Loan withheld will not impact on the calculation of the SLCIR amount.

Workaround

If you have to change the Student Loan repayment Amount, check again whether this is necessary or whether a different entry is required.

If you change the Student Loan amount then you must adjust the SLCIR rate manually as well.
