Error: USB Device not recognised when plugging in a scanner for POS

Legacy KB ID: 5322

Question

Why is my POS scanner not recognised when I plug it into my POS Terminal PC?  I get the error:

USB Device not recognised.  One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it.

An Error 43 also appears.

Answer

Out of the box the Senor Scanner is in ‘factory default mode’ and must be switched to ‘USB default mode’.

Detailed Instructions

Scan the following barcodes in their existing order:

Now scan the Barcode setup sequence in the Installation and Upgrade Guide once more.

If some of the barcodes have a ‘woolly’ appearance, use the set of barcodes in the Retail POS Installation and Upgrade Guide on the Reckon website at https://home.reckon.com.au/support/Home/ReckonSupport/InstallationUpgradeGuides.aspx
