How to switch Reckon Accounts Personal trial versions without the need to uninstall and reinstall the program.

Question

I have installed a Reckon Accounts Personal trial but now I realize that I need a different edition.  How do I trial another edition without uninstalling and reinstalling?

Answer

Note:  Personal and Personal Plus files can be opened in Home & Business. If you are downgrading from Home & Business to Personal Plus or Personal, you will need to start a new file.

The steps you need to follow are:

  1. Request a trial of the new RA Personal version.  Take note of the new trial Installation Keycode.  You will receive an email with this information;
  2. Open your RA Personal trial software you currently have installed;
  3. On the top menu line click on “Help” and at the bottom click on “Licence Information”;
  4. Click on “start over with a new installation key...” and enter the new trial key.
  5. RA Personal will activate online and will open in the new version.  Check the line at the top of the screen – it should show “RA Personal.

  6. If the new RA Personal version fails to activate it will close.  Relaunch RA Personal, open your datafile and attempt to activate again.  If it fails to activate again, call Reckon Technical Support;
  7. To create a new datafile, on the top menu line click on “File” and select “New” and follow the prompts.
